This was a friendly match played to officially open the re-developed field at Parc-y-werin. Neath started well scoring 2 converted tries, before Mike Hodges scored an interception try, which was converted by Steff Rees. These were the only scores of a competitive first period. At the interval, both teams using the game as a trial match, saw several changes. Neath's superior fitness and pace showed in the second period, and they scored a further 11 tries, converting 10 of them. Despite the score-line, Cwmgors were competitive in a number of areas, and if this form continues against our oppenents in the season to come, Cwmgors will pose problems for most teams.

Penlan took an early lead scoring a converted try from a lineout close to the Cwmgors line. Cwmgors were on even terms within five minutes, after the referee awarded a penalty try when Penlan infringed in a scrum, when Cwmgors were about to score. Steff Rees converted. Penlan scored another try, from a driving maul, which appeared to be their main form of attack. An exchange of penalties made it 10-15. Steff Rees kicked Cwmgors' points. Cwmgors had a golden chance to score just before the interval, but a dropped pass with the line in sight meant that the score remained 10-15 at the break.
Penlan extended their lead with a penalty and a converted try to make the score 10-25, and seemed to be out of sight. However, replacement Dylan Hills emerged from the bottom of a driving maul to score a try wide out to make it 15-25. Within a couple of minutes Cwmgors had scored again. A cross kick from Steff Rees was caught by Lloyd Watson, who rounded the defence to touch down. The conversion from Steff Rees made it 22-25. Cwmgors had chances in the final few minutes, but failed to score, so had to be content with a losing bonus point.

Brynaman were the first to score in the second half with a penalty to draw the scores level. Cwmgors regained the lead with a long range penalty from Caron Jones. This was the cue for scoring to start, to make up for the lack of points in the first half. Brynaman were first, when they scored a try wide out, to take an 8-6 lead. Next Cwmgors replied when wing Chris Jones fielded a kick, and out-paced his opposite number, an inside pass to Mike Hodges saw cross over for an unconverted try. Brynaman then replied when they scored an unconverted try. Cwmgors scored next when a fine solo effort was scored by Steff Rees. The missed conversion made it 13-16 to Cwmgors. Again the second half had numerous stoppages, and 6 minutes into time added on, Brynaman broke through to score under the posts, to make it 20-16. There was still a further 9 minutes to play, and it was played for most of the time in the Brynaman 22, but without success for Cwmgors, despite several penalties being awarded in their favour.

Despite the lack of tries, this was an entertaining game. Aberavon Quins dominated most of the game early on, but could not break down the Cwmgors defence. Cwmgors also had their chances, but also failed to score. The only score of the first half was a an Aberavon Quins penalty 12 minutes before the interval.
Cwmgors were first to score in the second half through a Caron Jones penalty. It remained 3-3 for most of the second half, with both sides missing kicks to take the lead. With just over 10 minutes to go, Aberavon Quins regained the lead with another penalty, but it was short-lived. Caron Jones replied with a penalty to make it 6-6 a few minutes later.

The game started promisingly enough when Darren Williams crossed over for a try within a couple of minutes of the start. Steff Rees' conversion made it 7-0. An exchange of penalties made it 7-3, before Neath athletic scored a converted try to make it 10-10. They then took the lead with another converted try before Dylan Hills scored a try for Cwmgors, which Steff Rees converted. The score was 17 all at half-time, but the Cwmgors side looked off the pace of the match for some reason.
In the second half Cwmgors were penalised on several occasions by the ref, and Neath Athletic kicked 3 penalties to give them a 17-26 lead. They then scored an 3 tries, converting the last 2 of them. Finally, in the last move of the match, Cwmgors put a good passage of play together, and Lloyd Watson crossed over in the corner for an unconverted try.

Cwmgors were first to score through a Steff Jones penalty, but were soon behind after two converted tries from Cwmllynfell made it 17-3. Cwmgors came back with a try from Iwan Davies, in support of a fine break by Steff Rees. Steff Rees converted, and added a penalty, to make the score 17-13. Cwmllynfell hit back soon after with a converted try of their own, and extended the lead with another try to make it 29-17. Cwmgors could have had a try themselves, just before half-time, but everyone stopped expecting a whistle that never came. Cwmgors trying to run the ball out of their own 22m conceeded a turn-over, and it was Cwmllynfell who extended their lead to 36-17 at the break.
The second half was dominated by strong running from Cwmllynfell, who scored a further 7 tries, converting 5 of them.

The match kicked-off early due to the Wales v South Africa Rugby World Cup Quarter-final. Pencoed were soon in the lead with a penalty, and scored a further 4 tries and 3 conversions in the first half, to give them a 29-0 lead at the interval. Most of the tries were scored during broken play. Despite the score, Cwmgors also had their moments in the first half, but couldn't break down the Pencoed defence.
Cwmgors kicked off the second half, and a well worked try was scored by Chris Jones, to register the first points. Pencoes replied with 2 converted tries, before Steff Rees forced himself over. He also added the conversion to make it 43-12. Pencoed replied, again, with a converted try, before a try from Richard Greig, converted by Steff Rees, made the score. 50-19. Pencoed had the final say with a try to make the final score 55-19. Not a bad effort all round considering unavailablities, and playing against a side a division above us.

Our poor run of results continues. From the kick-off Nantymoel were in our half, and it took over 10 minutes for us to enter theirs for the first time, for a brief spell. Despite all this pressure we held out for almost 30 minutes before they scored their first try to take a 5-0 lead. Cwmgors responded well, and put some pressure on them. This resulted in penalty from Steff Rees to cut the defecit to 5-3. However, Natymoel responded with a penalty, followed by a converted try. Steff Rees kicked another penalty to make it 15-6 at the interval.
The second half was dominated by Nantymoel. They scored 3 tries, and converted the last 2, to make the score 34-6. Some good play was seen by individuals inn the Cwmgors team, but promising moves came to an end with a lose pass, or lack of support. The potensial of a good side remains, but work needs to be done.

Total respect to the fifteen players who played in wet and windy Penlan. The home side playing with the strong wind at their backs raced to a 26-0 lead, scoring 4 tries and converting 3, before Cwmgors could reply. A excellent solo try from Chris Jones, playing at scrum-half. He picked up the ball from the scrum chiped the winger, and won the race for the touch down. Penlan however scored another try on the stroke of half-time. By now Cwmgors were down to 14 men due to an injury.
In the second half, Penlan scored 3 more tries, converting 1. By the end of the game, Cwmgors were playing with 13 men, due to another injury. Once again well done to those who played. Your efforts were appreciated, especially those playing out of position.

The match was played on the Maerdy, which was in quite good condition despite the wet and windy weather. Cwmgors kicked off and were soon under pressure by failing to deal with the slippery ball on the floor. It resulted in an early penalty for Brynaman, which they kicked to give them an early 0-3 lead. It remained unchanged for most of the half, until 10 minutes before the break, when Steff Rees kicked a penalty to even the score for Cwmgors. Just before half-time if a cross kick from Steff Rees had been caught am almost certain try would have been scored, but unfortunately it was dropped, so the score remained unchanged at the interval.
In the second half Brynaman increased their lead, after a break from the back of the scrum lead to a score from their backs. The conversion made it 3-10. There then followed a sustained period of pressure from Cwmgors, but they failed to increase their points tally. Brynaman long to relieve the pressure and the pressure was back on Cwmgors. A strong rBrynaman scrum resulted in an unconverted try. This made the final score 3-15 to the visitors.

Due to the weather, the game was played on the Maerdy pitch. Thankfully, the weather was calm during the game. Cwmgors kicked-off, playing towards Tairgwaith, and were first to score through a Steff Rees penalty. Within 5 minutes, Taibach were level through a penalty of their own. The slippery ball made for an error strewn game, with many attacks comming to an end with a dropped pass. Cwmgors extended their lead with 2 further penalties before half-time.
Early in the second half Taibach took a 9-10 lead with a converted try. Cwmgors came back strongly, and the forwaards drove Dylan Hills over to score a try to regain the lead, 14-10. Steff Rees extended the lead with a penalty to make the score 17-10. This was the final score of the match. With Cwmgors down to 13 men, they managed to withstand strong Taibach pressure in the final minutes.

No tries were scored in this match played on the Maerdy. Cwmllynfell opened the scoring with a penalty, but Cwmgors drew level with a penalty from Steff Rees. These were the only scores in the first half.
Cwmllynfell kicked a further 3 penalties in the second half, to give them a 3-12 win and deny Cwmgors a losing bonus point.
This was a much improved performance, especially defensively.

Cwmgors kicked off into a strong breeze against their opponents of fortnight ago. Taibach were soon awarded a penalty, but missed. The wind was a factor, and most of the game was played in the half of the field near the motorway. Taibach took the lead when they were awrded a penalty, but it was short lived. Steff Rees cancelled it with a penalty of his own. Taibach could have taken the lead, but missed several penalties.
Cwmgors had the benefit of the wind in the second half, but some good play from the Taibach saw their winger cross over in the corner for an unconverted try, to give them an 8-3 lead. Steff Rees also missed a long range penalty before Cwmgors were awarded a penalty try. From a lineout close to the Taibach line, Cwmgors formed a driving maul which was collapsed by Taibach. Cwmgors took the lead 8-10 with Steff Rees' conversion. Steff Rees extended the lead with another penalty. Cwmgors' second try came from prop Danny Jones when he dived on a loose ball in the Taibach goal area. Steff Rees' conversion made it 8-20, and despite some promising attempts by both sides, this was the final score.

Cwmgors kicked off into the wind. The early pressure came from Cwmgors, and Cerith Dennard, playing at flanker today was held up over the line. Against the run of play, Maesteg Celtic scored an individual try, when their scrum-half saw a gap around the side of a maul and ran 40 meters to score a try near the post. The conversion gave them a 7 - 0 lead. Twenty minutes a later, again against the run of play a break close to a maul saw Maesteg Celtic score another converted try to extend their lead to 14-0. Cwmgors finally managed to reply soon afterwards, when wing Chris Jones was put into space near the half-way line, and manged to beat their defence to score near the corner for an unconverted try, to make the score 14-5 at the interval.
Soon after the restart Maesteg Celtic turned the pressure they were now beging to excert on the Cwmgors line into an unconverted try. Almost from the restart Cwmgors were awarded a penalty which Caron Jones sloted over to peg the score back to 19-8. Much of the game was being played between the 10m lines, but Maesteg Celtic manged another foray into the Cwmgors 22m, and scored another unconverted try. On the final whistle Maesteg Celtic scored another unconverted try, to make the final score 29-8. The scoreline flattered the home side somwewhat. The score-line flattered the home side somewhat. There was a spirited performance from the players, and some big hits from Gareth Amos, and Iwan Davies

Aberavon Green Stars kicked-off and started as they meant to go on. Early injuries didn’t help the cause, but the Green Stars played with pace throughout, and went into an early 3-0 lead, with a penalty in front of the posts. Soon after, they extended their lead with a converted try. The game had to be paused for a period at this point, due to a head injury to one of their players. Aberavon scored a further 2 unconverted tries to give them a 20-0 lead at the interval.
In the second half the Green Stars scored a further 3 tries, converting 2. Cwmgors did show some flashes of good play, but they couldn’t sustain the pressure.

On a cold Friday night, Cwmgors did well to hold a well drilled and quick Aberavon Quins side, containing Aberavon dual registered players, for 30 minutes before thay scored their first try to add to an earlier penalty. With the conversion and another converted try on half-time gave the home side a 17-0 lead.
In the seconmd half Cwmgors could only reply through a Steff Rees penalty to Quins' 5 further tries, several of which were scored from distance. Cwmgors did have several chances, but despite putting considerable pressure on the Quins line in the final quarter. There were several good defensive efforts, and fair play to the team, they never gave up.

On a wet and windy Maerdy a converted penalty try seperated the two sides. Cwmgors playing into the elements were trailing by an early penalty at the interval, in a match much affected by by the weather. A Steff Rees penalty drew the score level in the second half, but the penalty try, from a series of scrums gave the visitors the points. Despite using the elements to keep the ball in the Maesteg Celtic half, Cwmgors failed to add to their score.

In a rearranged match, played under lights, a competitive first half performance saw Cwmgors hold high fliers Ystradgynlais to a single converted try, which was disappointingly conceded on the stroke of half-time.
Ystradgynlais backs were always dangerous, and they scored 3 tries, converting 2 in a 10 minute period when Cwmgors were down to 14 men. The final try, once again, was disappointingly scored on the final whistle.

Cwmgors started this game well, but after a spell of pressure, Cwmavon were the first to score with a penalty. Cwmgors made the score even soon afterwards with a penalty from Caron Jones. Cwmavon thyen scored 2 further tries, converting one, to take a 15-3 lead, before Cwmgors scored through permit player Sam Richards to make it 15-8 at the interval.
Cwmgors started the second half at a gallop, 2 tries, the second by Lloyd Watson and converted by Caron Jones gave Cwmgors a 15- 20 lead. It was short lived, as Cwmavon hit back with an unconverted try to draw the scores. Two further tries and a conversion gave Cwmavon a 32-10 lead, before an unconverted try from Cerith Dennard made it 32-25. Cwmgors tried to keep the ball alive at the end of the match in order to try to score a converted try in order to draw the game. Unfotunately, it back back-fired and resulted in a converted try for Cwmavon.

Cwmgors kicked off playing into a strong breeze, and started the stronger. An early Steff Rees penalty gave them a 3-0 lead. This was extended after a turnover was won in the Ystradgynlais half, and Lloyd Watson was given a run to cross over out wide. Ystradgynlais hit back with a converted try of their own, but for a change it was Cwmgors who scored just before half time. Some good work from the forwards saw Jonny Hills driving over for another unconverted try.
The second half saw most of the game being played initially between the 22m lines, but eventually Ystradgynlais managed to establish themselves in the Cwmgors 22 for an extended period, but failed to score. When the siege was lifted, Cwmgors moved into the Ystradgynlais half, and were awarded a penalty which Caron Jones kicked over to make it a 9 point lead. Ystradgynlais were always dangerous in open play, especially their full back, and it was he who gathered a chip ahead to score an unconverted try, to make it an interesting final 5 minutes. Cwmgors played most of this in the Ystradgynlais half to secure their 3rd win of the season.

Cwmgors kicked off into the Breeze, and had the first opportunity to score, but the penalty went wide. Neath Athletic were accurate with their two penalty attempts, and went into a 6 -0 lead. They extended this lead with two tries, converting the second of the two to make it 18-0 at the break.
Cwmgors started the second half with a good driving maul, but failed to build on this. It took 20 minutes for Neath Athletic to start scoring in the second half. The restart after they scored that converted try was fielded by their second row, close to his 22m line. He then ran, untouched almost, showing a turn of speed to outpace everyone in the Cwmgors side to score under the post. His pace and power suggests that he should be playing at a higher level. The conversion made it 32-0. Neath Athletic scored a further 3 converted tries. Cwmgors’ only reply came from Iwan Davies, who forced himself over from a maul, for an unconverted try.
The performance of some Neath Athletic players came as a surprise, especially considering their league position. Based on their contribution, it is surprising that they are not near the top of the division, rather than in a relegation battle.

Aberavon Green Stars kicked off playing towards the road at Parc-y-Werin, into a strong cross field breeze. Cwmgors were soon on the board with a try from Lloyd Watson, converted by Steff Rees. Following some good work by the pack saw the ball recycled and passed through several pairs of hands for the try out wide on the right. Within a couple of minutes Cwmgors were penalised, and Aberavon Green Stars reduced the deficit to 7-3. Cwmgors were back on the try trail almost immediately, when skipper Iwan Davies crossed over for a unconverted try. Soon after Lloyd Watson score his second try to extend the lead to 17-3. Cwmgors extended their lead through the boot of Steff Rees, before Aberavon hit back with a converted try. Steff Rees kicked another penalty, before some good recycling work by the forwards saw second row Richard Grieg throw a long pass out wide, over the head of several players, to wing Steff Garland to race over in the corner for an unconverted try, to secure the bonus point, and make it 28-10 at the break.
Cwmgors were back on the scoreboard early in the second half, when on permit Mathew Dunn forced himself over. Next to score for Cwmgors was hooker Cerith Dennard, again after some good driving work by the pack. The conversion was kicked by Caron Jones. Cwmgors’ final try was scored by Steff Rees who saw a gap and went for it. Aberavon Green Stars did not give up, and came back in the last few minutes scoring 2 unconverted tries, to make the final score 45-20. This was our first win on the new Parc-y-Werin field, and our first bonus point win of the season.

On a sunny but cold evening Cwmgors kicked off playing towards the road. Within 10 minutes, Cwmgors had raced to a 12 point lead. The first a long distance interception try, converted by Steff Rees. The second a result of cross kick from Steff Rees, to Teifion Davies on the wing, who didn’t panic when the ball went to ground, some good initial use of his feet to control the ball, before coolly gathering to cross over out wide on the right. Nantymoel were next to score when a planned move saw their centre cut back inside to score under the posts. The conversion, and a penalty later in the half made the score 12-10 to Cwmgors. Just before the interval Cwmgors were awarded a penalty in front of the posts, although most of the spectators thought that they had crossed for a try. Steff Rees kicked the penalty to make it 15-10.
Almost from the restart Nantymoel were awarded a penalty, which they kicked to reduce the deficit to 2 points. Later in the half Steff Rees kicked another penalty to make it 18-13. Some committed tackling from the Cwmgors team stopped the bigger Nantymoel players in their tracks, and prevented them from getting any sort of real momentum, and in the end Cwmgors were playing much of the game in the in the Nantymoel half, thanks to some good kicking from the hand from Steff Rees. The result now means Cwmgors retain their place in the division for next season.

The final match of the season ended in defeat. Cwmavon scored 2 unconverted tries, before a try by Teifion Davies, scored in a similar fashion to the one he scored in the previous match, and a conversion from Steff Rees made it 7-10. Cwmavon scored another unconverted try before the break to give them a 7-15 lead.
Early in the second half Steff Rees kicked a penalty, just inside the Cwmavon half, to make it 10-15. Cwmavon scored a converted try next, despite most of the players and supporters appealing for a trip on Lloyd Watson who was chasing the Cwmavon try scorer, by a Cwmavon player. This gave the visitors a 10-22 lead. They extended this with another try before Cwmgors replied with a an unconverted try in the corner. The final word went to Cwmavon, who scored an unconverted try to make it 15-32
