At the third attempt this WRU National Plate 3 Round match was finally played. Both other games were postponed due to the weather. Unfortunately, the game was abandoned at halftime due to an injury to Cwmgors’ Mathew Vickers, with Penallta leading nineteen nil. The result stands, so Penallta now progress to the next round. The new field has now been officially opened with the game against Neath R.F.C.. Prior to the match Mr Alun James, one of the oldest playing member of the club was given the honour of openning the field. The day as a whole was a big success, despite losing the match itself.Match Report

Both matches have been called off. The Maerdy pitch is frozen in patches, and the road up to the Maerdy has snow and ice on it, with no chance of it thawing. Penlan have called the seconds game off.

Our 32-10 win, along with Aberavon Green Stars defeat at Nantyffyllon means we are now two points behind Aberavon Green Stars with 2 games in hand, and level on points with Nantyffyllon, but have three games in hand over them. We manged to salvage a losing bonus point with a late penalty in our 22-16 defeat at Aberavon Green Stars .This means we are now in second place, equal on points with Aberavon Green Stars at the top of the Division. However, our superior try count puts us on top. Match report

Briton Ferry fail to raise a side

Briton Ferry had to cancel the match as they could not raise a side. The match will have to be played at a rearranged date. Aberavon Green Stars, next week's opponnents are now in top spot.

Cwmgors achieved the double over Bridgend Sports Club with a 27-20 win. Match report

We are out of the Bowl, losing narrowly to a last minute try and conversion 31-28 at Pyle. Match report

Cwmgor completed the double winning 32 - 0 at Cwmtrwch. Last season Cwmgors failed to beat Cwmtwrch, losing once and drawing once. Match report

Pyle Away in 5th Round

We have drawn Pyle away in the next round of the SWALEC Bowl. The match will be played on February 15th 2014.

Cwmgors had a narrow 28 - 31 win at Burry Port in the 4th Round of the SWALEC Bowl. We are now through to the last 16. . Match report

Our game against Pyle was postponed due to the weather. Both Aberavon Green Stars and Nantyffyllon played, both winning their games. They are now joint leaders with 38 points to our 36, but we have a game in hand over both. Table

Narrow win at Cefn Cribbwr

Cwmgors had a narrow 19 - 15 win at Cefn Cribbwr. The home side lead for most of the second half, and it took two late penalties from Steff Rees to seal the victory. Cwmgors now go clear at the top of the Division, with Aberavon Green Stars and Nantyffyllon drawing their match. Match report

Burry Port Away in 4th Round

We have drawn Burry Port away in the next round of the SWALEC Bowl. The match will be played on January 11th 2014, with a 2 pm kick off.

South Gower beaten

A scrappy 19 - 5 win against South Gower puts us into the last 32 of the SWALEC Bowl. Match report

Win against Aberavon Green Stars

An excellent win 16-0 against leaders Aberavon Green Stars see Cwmgors go to the top of the Division. This was an excellent game with both sides showing commitment. Match report

Away win at Briton Ferry

It was good to get a game in, our first since the away loss at Vardre. It was even better to win 13-33 against a big pack on a heavy pitch. Match report

Home Draw v South Gower in 3rd Round

We have drawn South Gower at home in the next round of the SWALEC Bowl. South Gower defeated Swansea Uplands 17 -13 in round 2. The match to be played on Saturday 14th of December 2013

Swalec League Division 5 South West Champions Season 2012-2013

Congratulations to all those involved in winning the Swalec League Division 5 South West following the 89-7 defeat of Llandybie. We have a total of 100 points. Division 4 here we come! Match report. Pictures

Championship hopes still alive, promotion guaranteed, after Crynant game

Cwmgors won 8-62 in another physical match. Match report. We stay in top position, with one match to go, against Llandybie on Wednesday May 8th. After looking at other results, it does appear that we have achieved automatic promotion. Pictures of match .

Still there with 2 to go

Cwmgors won at Cwmgwrach 6-37 in a physical match. Match report. We stay in top position, with two matches to go. There was then a 25 minute delay due to a bad leg injury to the Cwmgwrach scrum-half. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Cwmgors won at Baglan, 39-50 in an entertaining match. Match report. We are stay in top position, following Penybanc's win over Cwmtwrch, with a 1 point advantage.

According to Jeff Bright this a club record. It beat the previous record 84 - 0 v BP Llandarcy. The coaches then were Mike Jones and Stewart Morgan. Today, the coaches are Chris (Stan) Jones, and Barry Morgan (son of Stewart). Excellent display. 15 tries! Match report

This was a hard fought match. Despite having a number of players missing the team in general played well. It was nice to see Steve Parkin making a return to rugby. Match report

Win against Baglan

Although we won, 36-24, with a bonus point to keep the promotion drive going, yet again Baglan did not field a front row against us. A number of supporters are questioning whether this is a genuine problem, or a deliberate tactic. This is especially true if you take into account the comments of some of the Baglan supporters post match. Perhaps the WRU should look into this. Match report

The game against Llangadog has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The wet weather has also affected other matches, including cup-ties. If Crynant don't play their match today, it will have to be re-arranged for next week. This means that our match against them will have to be postponed.

Second XV Reformed

The 2nd XV played their first game for a few seasons on Wednesday 12/09/2012 away at the Amman. They eventually lost 28-7, despite leading 7 nil at half time. However, they ghave started up again, and anyone interested in playing or helping, please contact the coaching team, or the committee.

Season Starts

The League starts with a home game against Crynant. Cwmgors won both fixtures last season. Crynant did finish 4th in the table, one place behind us, so it could be a close game.

Pre-season matches

Two pre-season friendly matches have been played, both at home. Against Pontardawe on 08/08/2012, the match was abandoned due to an injury to a Pontardawe player in the third session. The score was 10 pts to 5 to Pontardawe at the time. Againat Birchgrove on 23/08/2012 Cwmgors won 17pts to 7.

Cwmtawe 7s 2012

Congratulations to the Cwgors 7s squad on reaching the semi-final of the Shield competition. Cwmgors were second in their pool. After losing their first pool match to eventual winner Trebanos, they then went on to beat Brynaman, Pontardawe and Alltwen. They lost in the semi-final to Cwmavon.

Cwmgors finished the season with a 7 try bonus point win at New Dock Stars. Match Report and Pictures. The win confirms our third place in the division. Also, it means a 3 way try for top try scorers. Steff Rees also extended his leading points total

Following the match at Gowerton, Steff Rees (89 points) has overtaken Daniel Pons (83 points) as top points scorer this season. Mike Hodges (5) is top try scorer.

Father and Son Reunion

During our win over Llandybie, Gethin Bugler, on permit from Brynaman was joined in the later part of the match by his father Roger. As far as we know, they are the only father and son combination to have played for the Club. Unless you know different? Click here for post-match picture

The SWALEC Bowl match against Cwmavon on the 10th of December was postponed due to parts of the ground being deemed unplayable due to the freezing weather. The match will now be played on the 17th.
