A very different season has finally come to an end. As a club we’d like to thank everyone at the club, both on and off the field, from the Seniors and Youth down to the Juniors and Minis, for their efforts in restarting rugby this season and dealing with the effects of Covid. We appreciated that it was a difficult, stop start year.  We look forward to seeing you next season.
Before then we look forward to seeing you at the Seniors and Youth Presentation Evening at the Club on May 14th, for a few relaxing drinks.

We have now restarted training @ Parc-y-Werin. Only once a week at present. Here are the days and times:

Wednesdays @ 6:30pm Juniors and Minis

Remember:

  1. You (or parent/guardian if under 18) will need to complete the WR Covid training module.
  2. You (or parent/guardian if under 18) should also have signed their Covid awareness waivers. (copies available at training)
  3. You (or parent/guardian if under 18) must have registered via Game Locker prior to any training.
  4. You (or parent/guardian if under 18) must complete the Symptom Checker via Game Locker prior to every session, and this is automatically recorded on My WRU.

This was a hard fought match. Despite having a number of players missing the team in general played well. It was nice to see Steve Parkin making a return to rugby. Match report

Win against Baglan

Although we won, 36-24, with a bonus point to keep the promotion drive going, yet again Baglan did not field a front row against us. A number of supporters are questioning whether this is a genuine problem, or a deliberate tactic. This is especially true if you take into account the comments of some of the Baglan supporters post match. Perhaps the WRU should look into this. Match report

This friendly match was arranged because the match against Crynant was called off due to their cup commitments. Tycroes won 19-11. Match report

The game against Llangadog has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The wet weather has also affected other matches, including cup-ties. If Crynant don't play their match today, it will have to be re-arranged for next week. This means that our match against them will have to be postponed.

Second XV Reformed

The 2nd XV played their first game for a few seasons on Wednesday 12/09/2012 away at the Amman. They eventually lost 28-7, despite leading 7 nil at half time. However, they ghave started up again, and anyone interested in playing or helping, please contact the coaching team, or the committee.

The season started with a fine 38-5 bonus point win over Crynant

Season Starts

The League starts with a home game against Crynant. Cwmgors won both fixtures last season. Crynant did finish 4th in the table, one place behind us, so it could be a close game.

Pre-season matches

Two pre-season friendly matches have been played, both at home. Against Pontardawe on 08/08/2012, the match was abandoned due to an injury to a Pontardawe player in the third session. The score was 10 pts to 5 to Pontardawe at the time. Againat Birchgrove on 23/08/2012 Cwmgors won 17pts to 7.

Cwmtawe 7s 2012

Congratulations to the Cwgors 7s squad on reaching the semi-final of the Shield competition. Cwmgors were second in their pool. After losing their first pool match to eventual winner Trebanos, they then went on to beat Brynaman, Pontardawe and Alltwen. They lost in the semi-final to Cwmavon.

Try Bonanza

Cwmgors finished the season with a 7 try bonus point win at New Dock Stars. Match Report and Pictures. The win confirms our third place in the division. Also, it means a 3 way try for top try scorers. Steff Rees also extended his leading points total

New Top Scorer

Following the match at Gowerton, Steff Rees (89 points) has overtaken Daniel Pons (83 points) as top points scorer this season. Mike Hodges (5) is top try scorer.

Father and Son Reunion

During our win over Llandybie, Gethin Bugler, on permit from Brynaman was joined in the later part of the match by his father Roger. As far as we know, they are the only father and son combination to have played for the Club. Unless you know different? Click here for post-match picture

Crynant Match Date

The home match against Crynant which was postponed in October has been re-arranged for January 28th 2012.

Cwmavon Match

Due to a number of circumstances comming together on this particular day, we were unable to field a side. As a result the match was awarded to Cwmavon.

Cwmavon Match Postponed

The SWALEC Bowl match against Cwmavon on the 10th of December was postponed due to parts of the ground being deemed unplayable due to the freezing weather. The match will now be played on the 17th.
