Swansea Uplands were quick out of the blocks, scoring a converted try in the first 2 minutes of the game. They continued to press, but Cwmgors held firm. Cwmgors were next to score through a long-range penalty by Jordan Smith. He soon had another a long-range opportunity, but the kick was wide. Swansea Uplands hit back with their second converted try. Cwmgors had several more penalty attempts, each had the distance, but all went wide. Following these missed kicks, Swansea Uplands went on to score a further 3 tries, including one on the stroke of half time, 2 of them being converted, to make the score 3-33 at the interval.
The second half was far more even, with Swansea Uplands scoring 2 converted tries, the second of these being the final play of the match.
Cwmgors came up against a fit and well-drilled St Clears team containing several Scarlets Academy players. The visitors moved the ball well and had pace throughout the team. They established a 31-point lead at the interval. Cwmgors did try to be innovative and were unlucky not to score from the restart of the second half. St. Clears reached the 50-point mark before Cwmgors managed to score a try. Cwmgors had a scrum in the St. Clears 22 and a long cut-out pass from Jordan Smith put Ioan Jones over near the corner. Unfortunately, the conversion hit the upright. The final play saw St Clears score an unconverted try.
Baglan kicked-off playing towards the road, but Cwmgors had the first opportunity to score. Unfortunately, a long-range penalty from Jordan Smith fell short. Following some good Cwmgors pressure Baglan conceded a penalty, and this time he was successful to give Cwmgors a 3-0 lead. Most of the first half was played between the 22s, but as we approached half-time, Baglan were attacking. They were awarded a 5m scrum, and it looked as if they were going for a pushover try. The Cwmgors scrum held firm, and Baglan were forced to use the ball. They lost control of the ball, and it was picked by Jordan Smith who ran the length of the field to score under the posts. His conversion ended the half with Cwmgors 10-0 in the lead.
Cwmgors gained in confidence during the second half. Another long-range Cwmgors penalty went wide, but soon after Cwmgors were on the scoreboard once again. A clearing kick from Baglan was fielded by Owen Davies on the left touchline, he went on an arcing run around the oncoming Baglan defence to score in the right-hand side corner. The conversion went wide, to make the score 15-0. Shortly after Cwmgors scored their third try. The ball was passed to Owen Davies who beat several players before giving an inside pass for Louis Ford to score. Jordan Smith’s conversion made it 22-0. Within 5 minutes of the restart Cwmgors scored their bonus point try, and Owen Davies’ second. The forwards won some good quick ruck ball near the Baglan line, and the ball was passed to Owen Davies to dive over. Jordan Smith’s conversion made it 29-0. Baglan did not give up and the last score went to them when they scored a converted try inn the final minutes of the game.
There was a minute’s silence proceeding kick-off in memory of 2 ex-players, Roger Morgan and Karl Carter, who have recently passed away. Cwmgors kicked-off playing towards the school, and were the first to score. A good initial break by Andrew Mason was continued by Owen Davies, who touched down for the first try. Josef Davies converted the try to make it 7-0. Shortly afterwards a penalty from Josef Davies made it 10-0. Cwmafan had a chance to narrow the lead but the penalty went wide of the post. However, it was they who were pressing and scored two tries, converting the first to give them a 10-12 lead. From the restart following the second try, Cwmafan’s clearing kick was charged down by Cerith Dennard. The ball was collected by Iestyn Llewellyn who ran up the touchline to score in the corner. Josef Davies converted to make it 17-10 to Cwmgors.
Early in the second half Cwmafan regained the lead with a converted try. They extended their lead with another converted try started in their own half. A pass early in the move looked decidedly forward but it was not given Their next try also started from their own half, and again a pass looked forward. The conversion was awarded despite the linesmen not raising their flags. Cwmgors made a period of pressure and were awarded several penalties in kickable areas. As they were so far behind, they chose to run the ball or kicked to touch. A penalty towards the end of the game to Cwmafan made the final score 17-36.

Cwmgors came up against a fit and strong running Abercrave side. Abercrave managed to break through tackles and there always seemed to be a supporting player on hand to carry on the attack. Nine of their 10 tries came this way. The other was a penalty try from a scrum. Cwmgors did have a few attacking periods, but their only points came from a Josef Davies penalty early in the first half. There were several injuries in the game, mostly on the Cwmgors side, resulting in players having to be helped off the field. Hopefully they are not as serious as they appeared at the time and everyone has a full and speedy recovery.

Bryncoch scored 2 unconverted tries and a penalty to give them a 13-point lead in the first half.
They extended their lead with another unconverted try, before Sean Drew scored a try near the posts, following a storming run by Owen Wright. Jordan Smith converted to make it 7-18. Cwmgors were pressing hard, but the next try went to Bryncoch on a rare second half visit into the Cwmgors half. The final points went to Bryncoch in the final play with a converted try.
Cwmgors had the first opportunity to score, unfortunately a long-distance penalty from Jordan Smith went wide. On more or less their first visit to the Cwmgors 22, Baglan scored a converted try to give them a 7-0 lead. Cwmgors cut their lead to 7-3 following a Jordan Smith penalty. Baglan scored another 2 converted tries to make it 21-3, before Owen Davies crossed for a Cwmgors try, converted by Jordan Smith to make it 21-10 at half time.
Baglan started the second half strongly, scoring 2 tries before Cwmgors hit back with a converted try. Baglan replied with a converted try to make it 40-17. Cwmgors then scored a converted try to make it 40-24. Baglan then decided to kick a penalty to make it 43-24. They then went on to score another converted try to make it 50-24. Cwmgors were still putting up a fight and were rewarded with their fourth try of the match which Jordan Smith converted to give them a bonus point and make the final score 50-31.
Nantymoel kicked off and were awarded an early penalty try to give them a 7point lead. Cwmgors came more into the game and were given a couple of long-distance penalties. Despite having the distance, both went wide from the boot of Jordan Smith. Cwmgors did cross the line when a Nantymoel kick was collected by Andrew Mason inside his own half. His run reached the Nantymoel 22, before he off-loaded to Owen Davies to run in for the try. Jordan Davies’ conversion made it 7 all. Nantymoel pressure late in the half saw them score an unconverted try on the stroke of half-time to give them a 7-12 lead.
Two converted tries in close succession at the start of the second half saw Nantymoel to a 7-24 lead. Cwmgors, however, were not giving up, and a good run from a lineout saw Owen Wright cross for a try which Andrew Mason converted. Nantymoel hit back soon after to make it 14 – 31, and despite Cwmgors’ efforts in the final minutes to score again, this was the final score.
Cwmgors had the better start to the game, and took an early lead from a dating run from the scum by Mike Jones. Jordan Smith converted to make it 7 points. Cwmgors were playing well and a long range penalty from Jordan Smith extended the lead to 10 points. Cwmafan hit back towards the end of the half with a converted try to make the score 7 – 10 at the interval.
Cwmafan were first to score in the second half to take the lead with an unconverted try. Cwmgors soon regained the lead through a second Jordan Smith penalty to make it 12-13. Another attempt a few minutes later hit the post. With less than 10 minutes to go Cwmfan regained the lead with am unconverted try. And in the dying minutes they scored a converted try to make it 22 – 13 to deny Cwmgors a losing bonus point, which, based on their performance, was the least they deserved against 4th placed Cwmafan.
Cwmgors took an early lead through a Jordan Smith penalty, and had the better of the early exchanges. However, Tonmawr started to come more into the game and levelled the score with a penalty. Tonmawr took the lead following two unconverted tries shortly before the interval to give them a 13-3 lead.
The second half remained scoreless for almost 20 minutes until Tonmawr scored a converted try to extend their lead to 20 – 3. However, Cwmgors were not giving up and scored a try of their own from a short lineout to make it 20 – 8. Tonmawr scored their fourth try four minutes into stoppage time in the second half, and the conversion made the final score 27 -8.
Cwmgors kicked-off and took an early lead through a Jordan Smith penalty. Cwmgors did most of the attacking early on, but couldn’t convert pressure into points. A rare Bryncoch attack saw them drive over for a converted try to give them a 7-3 lead. This was the pattern for most of the half, with Cwmgors exerting most of the pressure, but falling to cross the line. A Bryncoch attack on the stroke of half-time saw them score an unconverted try to make it 12-3 at the interval.
In the second half, with the wind picking up at their backs, Bryncoch were pilling on the pressure. Four tries and three conversions gave them a 38-3 lead going in to the final few minutes. Cwmgors were not giving up, and it was they who scored the last try of the match to make the final score 38-8.
The match was abandoned after 29 minutes due to the condition of the pitch, with Vardre leading with 2 converted tries, to a Jordan Smith penalty for Cwmgors. According to the rules, match must be replayed.

Cwmgors were slow to start the match and trailed 12- 0 after 10 minutes of the game, with Taibach scoring 2 tries and a conversion. Cwmgors came more into the game, and good pressure by the forwards saw the ball being recovered by Ceirian Thomas to cross for an unconverted try. Taibach were next to score with a converted try. Cwmgors were still in the game an were rewarded when the ball was passed wide for Steff Phillips to cross in the corner for an unconverted try to make it 19- 10.
Cwmgors were first to score in the second half. Some quick thinking from a penalty in Taibach’s 22 saw the ball kicked wide to the left wing for Steff Phillips to cross over for his second try, which was converted by Jordan Smith to bring the score to 19-17. Soon after a Jordan Smith penalty saw Cwmgors take the lead, 19-20, for the first time in the game. Another Jordan Smith penalty extended the lead to 19-23. However, Taibach hit back with an unconverted try to retake the lead 24-23, with 5minutes of normal time left. Two minutes into stoppage time, Cwmgors ran the ball from their own half, and Mathew Thoms, on permit, scored an unconverted try to retake the lead 24-28. Taibach scored next with an unconverted try to retake the lead 29-28. Cwmgors were not giving in, and 8 minutes into stoppage time, from a scrum in Taibach’s 22, Jordan Smith regathered a chip ahead to score a try which he converted to make it 24-35. In the last play of the game, 15 minutes into stoppage time Taibach crossed over for a converted try to win the match 36-35.
Cwmllynfell kicked off the game, playing down the slope. Cwmgors took the lead early on with two penalty kicks from Jordan Smith. Cwmllynfell attempted to come back, but a missed penalty kick saw them trailing 0-6. A further penalty from Jordan Smith extended Cwmgors' lead to 0 – 9.
In the second half, both teams continued to battle hard., Cwmllynfell, against the run of play scored a try, to make the score 5-9. Cwmllynfell now with their tails up exerted pressure on Cwmgors and scored another unconverted try to take the lead 10-9. However, Cwmgors fought back with a try of their own, scored by Mike Jones and converted by Jordan Smith, putting them ahead 10-16.
The match remained tense and closely contested. Cwmgors narrowly missing a penalty kick to extend their lead, but neither team was able to score again, and the game ended with a final score of 16-10 in favour of Cwmgors.
Vardre requiring 1 point to clinch the Division 3 West Central title kicked off the match. The game was played at a fast pace, with Vardre doing most of the attacking early on. They were ahead 0 – 12 after 15 min, with 2 tries and a conversion. Cwmgors were not giving in and pressure in Vardre’s 22 saw Cwmgors being awarded a penalty, which Owen Davies took quickly and crossed over for a try, which Andrew Mason converted to make it 7-12. Vardre’s fast, offload loading game was paying dividends. There always seemed to be a player in support ready to receive the pass, and despite some good defensive work from Cwmgors, with several good tackles being made, Vardre were in the lead 7 – 33 at half-time.
The second half continued in the same vein. Vardre playing their fast offloading game, and Cwmgors putting in the tackles. By the middle of the second half Vardre had reached 54 points, but Cwmgors were still putting in the effort, and were rewarded when. Mike Jones crossed over for an unconverted try following a snipping run from a scrum. The final action of the match saw Vardre cross over for their ninth try to make the final score 12 – 59.
Congratulation to Vardre on winning Division 3 West Central, best of luck in Division 2 next season. Well done also to the Cwmgors players for the effort they put in and for not giving up.
